Ingredients:
1/2 C butter
1 C sugar
1 egg
1/2 C water
1/2 C chopped walnuts, optional
1 1/2 C flour
1 C raw apple
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg, clove, salt each
Caramel frosting:
1 C brown sugar
1/2 C white sugar
3/4 C cream
2 Tbsp white karo syrup
1 tsp vanilla extract
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 deg. Mix all cake ingredients and pour into a greased 9x9 pan. Bake for 30 minutes
In a small-medium saucepan, bring all frosting ingredients to a soft boil stage. Beat until it reaches a soft, frosting consistency. If you beat too long it can become crumbly and too hard to spread
