Homemade Fluffy Dinner Rolls

Mix: 5 minutes

Knead: 20 minutes

Rise: 1 hour

Form: 10 minutes

Rise: 60 minutes

Bake: 20 minutes

Cool: 15 minutes

Total Time: 3:10


Ingredients:

1/2 C warm water or milk (I use warm milk)

1 tsp yeast

3 Tbsp sugar

3/4 tsp salt

4 Tbsp milk powder

1 large egg

2 C bread flour

4 Tbsp butter


Directions:

  1. Mix all ingredients into a large bowl except the butter. Stir in flour last and mix until you have a soft, shaggy dough

  2. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface. Add butter and knead until smooth and elastic, approx 15-20 minutes

  3. Butter the inside of your large bowl and place dough inside. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and let rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size

  4. Turn dough back onto a lightly floured surface and punch the air out. Divide into 9 pieces. Grease a 9x9 baking dish

  5. Roll out each piece and roll up into a log and pat edges so they are dinner roll shaped

  6. Let rise for 45-60 minutes in a warm area to proof again, covered

  7. Preheat oven to 350 deg

  8. In a small bowl beat egg until blended. Brush onto rolls

  9. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown, rotating pan halfway through

  10. Let cool for 15 minutes before serving
