Mom's 6 minute "fire" Caramels

1/2 C melted (salted) butter

1/2 C light corn syrup (Karo)

1/2 C sugar

1/2 C brown sugar

1/2 sweetened condensed milk

1 tsp vanilla

optional: sea salt for toping, or, add 1/4 tsp salt to mixture


Directions:

  1. Butter an 8x8 baking dish or line it with parchment paper

  2. Melt butter in microwave

  3. Add all other ingredients except vanilla to melted butter bowl. Mix well

  4. Microwave for 6:30 (monitor)

  5. Stir in vanilla

  6. Pour into baking dish and let it sit to cool (if you are sprinkling with sea salt, sprinkle this now)

  7. Can refrigerate until cold. Slice, and wrap
